Product Description The Drinkwell Platinum pet fountain is the ultimate in style and design. This all new design utilizes the same patented free falling stream of water as the original Drinkwell which entices pets to drink more. The Platinum features a new snap on lid to prevent accidental removal, a pre-filter to catch large particles before they reach the motor and a new submersible pump for nearly silent operation.

It was noisier than I expected September 5, 2010 S. Moran I was hoping that this water fountain would be as quiet as the description implied. It was noisy enough that none of my 4 cats or 2 dogs would have anything to do with it (even after several days)
Absolutely wonderful for your pet September 4, 2010 redsaxgirl My 5 year old cat has always been intrigued by water coming out of a faucet. In fact, everytime me or my husband would go into the bathroom, she'd come running in too and hop up on the sink, waiting for the water to be turned on. She loves to drink out of the sink, even though she gets her head totally soaked. Since she loves the fresh running water, I decided to order the Platinum fountain, as it has a large resevoir. The day that I got it and set it up, she parked herself in front of it and just started drinking as if she was dying of thirst. This fountain definitely makes her drink more water than when it's just in a bowl. And I'm very happy about that. She drinks more water, eats less and is more active.
Cleaning the fountain is pretty easy. I ordered the brush kit and it works well. The best part is that the fountain, with the exception of the resevoir tank, is dishwasher safe. Taking the fountain apart and reassembling is pretty easy.
Perhaps the one thing that I'm not too fond of is the charcoal filters. I understand why they are there but they leave a buildup on the inside of the drinking bowl and inside the fountain assembly. It's not difficult to clean by any means though, as it comes right off with a little rubbing.
Even better than the old model September 1, 2010 Katie (New Jersey) This was bought as a replacement fountain for the older model Drinkwell Pet Fountain. Out last fountain worked just fine, but after 6 years had gotten too grimy for us. I wanted something that looked cleaner and held more water. The new Platinum is great! It is quieter than our old one, and seems to hold a LOT more water as well. My cats have always liked the fountain, and this is a great way to keep their water fresh for days/weeks on end. Every so often I do have to add more water, and like that it is dishwasher safe. We will likely be Drinkwell customers for life!
great fountain August 30, 2010 D. S. Riordan I got this fountain because one of my cats was starting to only want to drink from the bathroom sink and then only from the faucet (not from the bowl). I was wasting too much water plus I had to stand there while he drank and it was kinda messy. I needed to get him something with flowing water. I chose this fountain because it was supposed to be quiet and the size was good since I have two cats. I think it would be good for households with more cats, too. It truly is quiet -- just the whisper of running water -- very nice. And both cats took right to it. So far so good!
Cat Fountain August 27, 2010 A. Smith (Philadelphia) Nice fountain, vibrates a lot on the tile floor, but if the resevior is kept more than half full this stops. My cat loves it, drinks a lot more water than he used to. Definitely needs to be cleaned weekly, but it's not as difficult as some reviews make it out to be. Comes apart and goes back together quite easily.
