Coolaroo Steel-framed Pet Bed September 5, 2010 GTO Very good. Easy to assemble and the BIGGIE is that our dog actually uses it! We keep this one on our deck in the shade. The cover is tough and has a definite texture that she loves to rub and roll against.
Just not for Bob September 5, 2010 Bob's Mom (So'west Florida) The Coolaroo bed is just as described. I think it's great. Alas, our dog, Bob, doesn't care for it. Bob weighs about 65 pounds, a shepherd mix, and the bed is plenty large for him. We live in south Florida and he is an indoor dog. He has several beds, including ours, and frequently sleeps on the tile floor under a ceiling fan. I'm sure that's nice and cool. So I thought he'd enjoy the Coolaroo. But he doesn't use it. I don't think it is due to any problem or flaw with the product. In fact, I think most dogs would love it. But Bob is Bob. He knows what he likes and at age 11 I don't think he is about to change his habits. So I give it a thumbs up and Bob's not talking. I have seen similar beds in animal shelters and the dogs seem to love them. The Coolaroo is very reasonably priced. The "industrial model" used in shelters is considerably more expensive, but for home use I think the Coolaroo is perfect. Do they make it my size; I'd sleep on it.
Best Dog Bed Ever September 4, 2010 Rita S. Reames (Costa Rica) We have one of these in large and it's been through three dogs and two cats. It's still going strong and they love it. We got this one for our second dog and she's very happy with it. Both dogs can even share it if they curl up. They are about 35 lbs. each and it's roomy for one, cozy for the two. It's not too hot in warm weather and you can wash it with a hose. In winter we just throw a small piece of fleece on it and everyone is warm and cozy up off the floors. A great value and long lasting. The puppy even chewed a small bit but didn't destroy it. It assembles and comes apart easily although the first time it's stiff. If needed you can even get replacements for the fabric part.
Highly recommended by all our gang.
Great for older dogs. September 3, 2010 "Kahului Shopper" Adrienne (Kahului, HI USA) I got this in Med for my 11 year old AmStaf terrier. He is having a difficult time getting up and down now so I got this for him to sleep on. It only took some encouragement for him to get on it. First night on it he slept through the whole night, a first in a while. I know this was made for outside but I figured it would work in the house. I may be back for another for outside, he has likes to sleep on my patio furniture, so having a bed for himself would be a much better option for me!
It was a snap to put together too, taking about 5 min. tops to screw the bolts in. All that was needed was a screw driver. We are all happy.
Tug's Favorite Spot September 1, 2010 Brad (USA) Bought this for Tug - our 11 year old Chesapeake male. He is an outside dog and in the summer in Nashville that gets hot. The bed is sturdy and simple to assemble. We place a fan on the ground pointed at the bed and with the elevated mesh, Tug gets circulation all around. The bed is just the right height for him to get in and get out. That is important as he is moving a lot slower now due to his age. Very happy with this purchase.
